A Family Weekend Getaway in Tennessee at Moxy Chattanooga Downtown!

Trish ~ Labor Nurse Mama

Are you looking for a weekend getaway in Tennessee or maybe a weekend babymoon?

I'm excited to share all about a trendy lifestyle hotel I stayed at in Chattanooga!

My family and I lived in there for many years and now we find ourselves visiting and staying in hotels (even though we still own a home there!). It's ironic, but hey, life changes and you go with it.

I recently went to Chattanooga for a quick visit with our boys and decided to try out a new hotel! Yes, people, I do break out every once in a while!

My first question for you.

Are you the type of person (or family) who sticks to mainstream and normal? I have to admit when it comes to hotels, I typically stick to the ones I know and love. Some brand of hotels you can always rely on, and Marriott is one of them! (By the way, this review is mine and I am not getting paid to write it…Hello Marriott, I am ok if you want to though!)

Why I am here and who I am:

Hey mama, I am Trish— AKA Labor Nurse Mama. I am a labor and delivery nurse with over 15 years of high-risk OB experience. I am also a mama to 7 kids and have given birth to 6. This means I am quite familiar with the postpartum period and how to navigate it. I am the online birth class educator for Calm Labor Confident Birth and The VBAC Lab birth classes and the mama expert inside our Calm Mama Society, a pregnancy & postpartum membership community! I am passionate about your birth and motherhood journey! You can find me over on IG teaching over 230k mamas daily. I am passionate about your birth and motherhood journey!

From the minute you walk into the lobby, the uniqueness of this weekend getaway is abundantly clear. The lobby is brightly lit and decorated in a super trendy and modern style. The front desk is one of a kind. First off, it's a bar. Yep, a fully stocked bar. Now, don't let that put you off, because it just seems less like a bar and more like the counter of a friendly neighborhood coffee shop. There is even a massive jar of candy, ready to be scooped into the environmentally friendly cups they provide.

Snack Time

If you are needing a snack or forgot water as I did, you can grab a bottle to take up to your room! I may or may not have also grabbed an ice cream bar. I mean momma's alone, so let the party begin. (I'm past drinking…I said family, remember?)

Social Media Opportunities

There are a few things that will make you pretty darn happy, and this board was one of them. It consistently changes and provides much entertainment. You might find yourself standing and reading it for a while.

Be sure to check out the video wall, which features guests Instagram posts! That was pretty interesting and also a pretty clever marketing tool! We all know Millennials love there social media opportunities. Moxy abundantly answers that calling.

Downtime

At the far end of the lobby is a space for hanging out. It is set up like a large living room with epic details! The leather couch is like butter that you melt right into.

My son and his girlfriend played a giant game of connect four, while my other son and I talked and people watched.

On the opposite end of the hotel ground floor is space for community gatherings or business meetings. You will also find a business area that has computers and printers available for guests. (So see there, it's not just a weekend getaway in Tennessee, it also provides you the opportunity to get business accomplished while your family plays giant Jenga!)

Fitness Fanatics

You might be more dedicated than I am, and enjoy the large fitness area on the first floor. I enjoyed ice cream and a burger at Urban Stack. To each his own, stop judging me. But in a perfect world, I would have enjoyed the cool stationary bike and maybe the free weights. Who knows? It's not an ideal world.

The Upper Floors

Okay, the guest room areas are my first favorite. Just look at this hall! Doesn't it remind you of a hip condo or apartment hall? They knocked it out making guests feeling like they are at home and not at a hotel chain. Don't you love the subway tile? Yep, me too!

Guest Rooms

My first glimpse at the room was a little confusing. I was like what the heck is this? My son (yes, he is twenty) ran up and swung that thing in the middle of the beds. He had his opinions about it, but I will leave it at that.

I love how the beds are head to head and can see some interesting conversations happening with my toddler as he drifts off to sleep. Overall, it's a great space saving concept.

Storage Spaces

Your favorite part of the room is most likely going to be the pegs on the wall. I know, it's weird and brilliant all at once. The side tables and suitcase stand all hang from the pegs, giving you the option to use them and take up floor space or not. I chose not for most of the night. As you can see, I did hang my bags up and loved the lack of clutter. I hate a cluttered hotel room.

Instead of a large dresser and nightstand, Moxy provides under bed storage. If you are like me and unpack, then you will love this provision. I got some great ideas for my daughters' bedroom in our new home from their clever spacing saving options. We are downsizing and needed fresh ideas like the ones Moxy utilizes.

The Bathroom

The bathroom is pretty darn stunning. You will love the clean lines and industrial feel! They even provide shampoo, conditioner, and bath soap! I loved the mix of black and glass, so much so, that's what I am doing in our new bathroom. Don't get me started about how I spray painted the aluminum shower frame. It's not worth the tears.

Door Hanger

Lastly, because its a weekend getaway, you have to have some peace and downtime, right? Moxy was even so kind as to provide a door hanger to tell everyone outside, to stay outside! (sorry Mike, I didn't choose it, but I felt I had to use it out of respect to the hotel)

Check it out as you leave me and book your weekend getaway in Tennessee at the Moxy downtown Chattanooga!
